Boy diapers

I am using swaddlers and no matter what i do (have the diaper on tight, lose, point his little penis down, etc) I continue to have leaks.  The pee is coming out the top of the back of the diaper.

Is it possible I am putting it on wrong or is there another brand you guys would recommend we try out?

TIA

do you have a size too big?  Also, are you making sure his wang is pointing down when you put the diaper on?

  • the diaper may be too big...
  • I am one of the lucky ones that so far (knock on wood) has not had any issues with a specific brand.  So I don't have any ideas on which would work best.  But just a thought, maybe it is time to move up to the next size?  I know that DS pees out of his diapers when they are getting too small.  The pampers swaddlers were my favorites though.
  • this happened to me as well, no one told me baby boy parts were supposed to point down - ever since i learned that valuable trick, we are leak free
  • He is small (currently about 6.5 pounds) and he is in newborn diapers.  Based on the weight he should be fine in them.

Yes, I point it down.  Sometimes DH forgets but I know when I have changed him and made a point to point it down I still get leaks.  I have already had three leaks since midnight and I know all three of those I pointed it down.

  • How old is he? My DS went through a phase for about a week or two when he was brand new where he leaked out of swaddlers and then he stopped.

DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
  • He is 16 days old.
  • Well I am totally wrong then!  He def. does not need to move up a size.

My LO was 6lb 6oz when he was born, and we ended up putting him in the preemie size pampers for the first few weeks b/c of his body shape.  maybe get a small pack of those and see how it goes?

This happened to us too. I think the diaper was too big.. we ended up using a smaller size in from some generic diapers. Now that he's bigger, the swaddlers don't leak anymore.
