Steaming frozen carrots

I have tried steaming/ pureeing frozen carrots and keep coming up with a more gritty texture.  I think I am not steaming them long enough to get the soft enough... how long do you steam them to get them soft enough to get smooth?

My steamer goes up to 75 minutes, so I just let them steam the whole time. They are always soft enough when it's done.
