No you're not pronouncing it wrong. H and I thought there really wasn't a nickname for Atticus that we liked so we said what about Gus.

kids don't need nicknames. some people prefer to have names that cant be NNed if you like Gus, then name your child that.
My mother is one of those people and I hated that I don't have a NN. If we are blessed with three sons the last one will have a nickname like his brothers.
Some people like names that are more gender specific. I don't judge.

names i love - dexter. hawthorne. spenser, finn, and beckett,
I have never heard of Hawthorne as a first name, sounds kinda cool... too bad is my maiden name and wouldnt be able to use it
i would DEF use it if it was my maiden name lol i think its great when people do that.
I have a friend who did this. I think it's a great idea. I wish I didn't have such an unusable maiden name.
My grandmother passed on her maiden name (Kennedy) to my dad in his middle name... and then my parents passed it onto me as my first name. I passed it on again, too DD as her middle name. I hope she continues the tradition!

I have talked to DH about almost ALL of those names. We have some similar taste.

If it were up to my husband: Junior.
If it were up to me: Julian William Paul.
If we compromise, hopefully: Matthias William Samuel.

That is actually very traditional. A lot of family members on my mom's side have the same middle name because of that tradition.?
