How many bottles should I register for?

I've started my registery, and was wondering how many bottles to register for? I haven't decided yet if I'm going to breastfeed or formula feed, but for the sake of the question, lets say I'll formula feed.

Re: How many bottles should I register for?

  • I registered for several different kinds. I'm gald I did because once I started ffing dd we had some problems and I had to change formula and bottles, I was gald to have several kinds at home to try. When we find the one (Playtex Vent Aire) that did not hurt dd belly I returned bigger packs and bought the kind that worked best.

  • I agree with getting a few different ones and seeing which you like best before committing to loads of one kind. We have 10 total we use in rotation, but it took a while to discover which ones worked best, so I'm glad I didn't go and buy 10 of the same before she was born.
  • I am likely going to FF and I registered for the "starter set" which included 3 or 4 bottles of each size and related nipples.  I am going to start with Dr. Brown, and see if the baby likes them.  I know I will likely need more than what is in the starter set but I'm going to hold off on registering for any extras just to be sure the baby likes that brand.
  • We will probably end up with about 10 eventually but we registered for a few different brands...munchkin, evenflo and dr browns (2 pack). They are all glass so we'll try those and see which he likes and hopefully have gift cards to go buy more of what we use. We did buy a few 4 oz but only registered for larger bottles. I figure they out grow 4 oz pretty quickly and we can always put 4 or 5 ounces in a larger bottle.
  • Thanks for the recommendations. That's a really good idea about getting several different brands until I see which bottle he prefers.

  • I registered for 9 bottles - all 8 ounce size. I didn't bother with the smaller sized bottles. I figured they were a waste of money. Hopefully, she'll take to these bottles as they are the only ones I have, but we'll see.  I figured I'll go through about 6 a day and I'll have a couple as backups. I also bought the pitcher so I can mix 6 bottles at one time and keep them in fridge.
