Baby Names

WDYT of this girl name?

Robin Elizabeth.

So here's the thing with the name.  The name Robin would be a way to name #2 after DH.  Naming a girl after her father is symbolic in our family because I was named after my father.  Therefore the name Robin would directly be naming DD after DH while indirectly naming her after myself.  But I've ran this name by some members of my family and they all turn their nose up at it.  I know I should just name my child whatever I see fit without regard to other's opinions.  But it's hard to hear people's negative reactions about name choices.

But, please, give me your honest opinions on that name choice as I'm interested in seeing the opinions of those outside of my family.

Re: WDYT of this girl name?

  • I like it, just spelled Robyn.

Robin with an "i" just makes me think of the bird.. or a boy name. Robyn with a "y" is girl. But maybe I'm bias because my BFF's name is Robyn ;)

  • I think it flows really nicely together.  The name Robin isn't really my style, but it's classic and down-to-earth.

  • i love it. i think its adorable and very pretty. i would personally spell it "Robyn". and it is hard when people have negative reactions to the names you pick, especially family memebers. but at the end of the day this is your baby and your choice, pick the name you love, not what everyone else loves!!!!! once the baby arrives, you'll never hear another word about who does and dosent like it!! :)

i don't love the name robin/robyn, but it's nice enough.  robin elizabeth flows nicely.
  • Love it!  Robin was on my list for a while, but DH didn't like it as much.
  • I think it's a great, classic name and a wonderful way to carry on your naming tradition. Both of the Robin/Robyns I grew up with were all-star athletes and awesome people, so it's a good name in my book!

  • Robin isn't really my style but it ticks a lot of the boxes for my name criteria...people will know how to say it, people will have a good shot at spelling it.

  • I say don't share the name choices with the fam and pick what you like.  FWIW i had a friend (girl) named Robin.  She loved her name but hated that her parents spelled it with an "i' instead of a "y".  I would go with the y because it is more feminine.
  • Love the name Robyn. Robin is the masculine spelling to me. My sister's name is Robyn Catherine which I prefer to Robyn Elizabeth.

I agree that it should be spelled Robyn. Robyn Elizabeth is really pretty. I definitely like it! One of my closest friends is named Robyn and no one ever made fun of her name. Her full name was Robyn Michelle.?

  • I really liked Robyn/Robin. Dh wouldn't stop with the bird jokes though so we scratched it.

It's a nice normal spelled right and I think very pretty without being popular name. It also has a cute association for me.

And stop telling people your baby names. All you're going to hear is, a) "That's a dog's name" b) "I know the worst person with that name"  c) "Hmm..that's interesting." **Silence**  :)
