Pelvic exam= what you have at your annual OBGYN appointment
Cervical Exam= what is does during pregnancy to check the dialation/effacement of the cervix (commonly called Internals)
Both take place within the vagina, but are not the same thing.
*However, you probably had a pelvic exam at your first doctor's appt during pregnancy to check pelvic opening and for your doctor to mark down what is "normal" inside you
Re: PSA: Internals
muahahahaha! way to break it down!

Pelvic exam checks everything:

Cervical Exam just checks the cervix for dialation and effacement:

so, the pelvic exam checks the contents of the pelvis and the cervical exam checks.... oh wait shoot I just had it... checks....... ugh! I forgot again geez this pg thing is hard!
LOL
As I learned in triage this week-
Pelvic- a finger or two
Cervial- up to the shoulder. (Hell I swear they even tried to climb in)
Five stars!
I love how someone only gave this one. Guess they don't care for PSAs
Yes, they are completely different. Cervical checks are also different depending on the doctor and how much progress you've had.
Check one: my main doctor with small hands + cervix completely not progressed = hurt like a mother-farker. She was capable of reaching it but it was really, really far up
Check two: male doctor with large hands with no progress = didn't hurt one bit because he knew he was never going to get there so he didn't try hard
Regular pelvics have never hurt except for the scrape for the pap.
