Jodi

I know you go to Disney a lot.  So we are planning a trip for Oct.  We are staying at the all Star Movies and we are doing the dinning plan. I was wondering if you could give me any pointers about going with young kids and what resteraunts would you recommend?  I have been before but never with kids.  Thanks

  • Bring a stroller.  It's $28/day to rent a double and you will need one.

Don't try to fit everything in in one week --- won't happen and will cause way too much stress.  Try to follow this pattern --- night you get there, swim.  Enjoy the hotel.  Just lounge.

Next day --- do a park.  Magic Kingdom has Fantasy Land and that is where all the kid rides are.  When you get there, get a fast pass for one ride and then stand in line for a different ride.  By the time you get off the first ride, your fast pass should be available to use.  So do that one.  When you get off that one, get a fast pass for a 3rd ride and stand in line for a 4th.  By the time you get off the 4th, the 3rd ride fast pass should be available for use.  You can do this section the fastest this way --- and with the least amount of stress.  Peter Pan, Pooh, It's a Small World, Mickey's Philar Magic (3D --- depending on your kids, this might scare them.  My fave though in that area).  Snow White (again, could be scary depending on your child).  Pooh play area and the classic Dumbo ride.

If they are up for it, go to Mickey Toon Town.  They can see Mickey's house, Goofy's garage, Donald's boat, etc.  And it's just a big play area basically.

Once you finish Fantasy Land, go back to the hotel for some pool time and a nap.

Next day -- pool time.  Do that all morning and then nap them around 3.  That will give you the opportunity to keep them up a bit later and you can go to Magic Kingdom for their nightly fireworks.  Try to plan this routine for a night when they have the electric light parade.

Next day --- MGM.  Has Little Mermaid (don't tell him I told you but it's Joe's fave!) :)  And Disney Playhouse.  This is a live show -- very cute.  Also has MGM stunt show (depends on kid -- might be scary because there is pyrotechnics, etc).  This is just a good site seeing place as well.

Oh, October --- do the Mickey's Trick or Treat parade.  It's at night -- so you should plan to pool it during the morning/afternoon and have them nap so you can go at night.  It's closed to the general public and they only sell  40,000 tickets. Which sounds like a lot however you will not have to wait more than 5 minutes on any ride line.  It's great.  And it's a great parade and it's neat to see the park decorated for Halloween.  They also have trick or treat stations and the girls can get dressed up.

Epcot --- not much for the little guys really so don't be bummed if you miss this park.

My best advice is DO NOT DO the parks more than one day in a row.  It's too much --- too overstimulating for the kids and the bottom line is that you are not going to fit everything in in just 7 days.  So do what you can, don't stress and enjoy the hotel as well (which I have heard is great and totally geered towards kids).

Let me know if you need anything other info.

  • thank you so much I already ordered tickets for the Mickeys Not So Scarry Halloween Party I can't wait.  If I come up with more questions I will ask.  I am just so freaking excited lol
