I guess I can see that, since I knew how it was pronounced I didn't think of the -dee vs -die

It sounds like someone is trying to say "Melodie," but had broken English or a stuffy nose and couldn't get out the m. I like Harper, though.

I had a really good friend growing up named Elodie. ?I like it, but it's too uncommon for me. ?She had to explain to people A LOT how to say it....she would always use the "Melody without the M" line. ?I don't recall her ever saying she didn't like her name though, either. ?Also, she has a very successful, professional career now.?

I have a gf named Elodie (El-O-Dee) and she is classy, gorgeous and started her own national org to benefit kids that cant afford shoes, backpacks for school! shoesthatfit.org (Elodie McGuirk founded Shoes That Fit, a non-profit children's charity that began in 1992.)

I think its a great name!
