Hello ladies..I posted this on GP a little bit ago, but wanted to post on here as well, maybe to get more advice..?
And my doc told me I have PCOS. Said I have "cottage cheese, Tahitian pearls".......Interesting huh?...Did a vag us and told me that my eggs are not maturing. We have been ttc now for 8 months and this was all very hard to hear.
He wants to put me on 200 mg Prometrium for 7 days and then start 50 mg clomid on day 3 of my cycle for 5 days....
Have any of you ladies taken these? I know pcos if probably common. I guess I just didn't want to admit I had a "problem" getting pregnant.
Any advice, personal experiences would be appreciated...Thanks...
Re: PCOS...
Me too, took provera to get AF and will start 50 clomid day 3-7. That is if AF ever arrive, CD 50.
Going on Monday for sono and estrogen levels. my initial labs are looked great.
Started 500 metformin a month ago too.

~ Miscarry at 8 weeks with D&C in May 2011 (low progesterone).
~ Had a healthy baby girl in June 2012 via C-Section (on prometrium to sustain).
~ Surprise pregnancy at age 40! Baby boy due April 26, 2021 (took prometrium to sustain once pregnancy was confirmed, 3rd C-Section planned).
I'm on my 4th round of Clomid and I started Metformin/Avandia over a month ago.
I used an ovulation predictor kit and got a positive test yesterday. I'll go in for blood work to confirm ovulation 7 dpo. If I didn't ovulate or if I did ovulate but didn't get pregnant we will talk to my RE about what our next step is.
We all understand the frustration and hurt when you realize you have a problem. I also wondered why I was so worried about getting pregnant while I was in college.
I know 8 months of trying seems like a long time, but some girls don't get diagnosed for years. Good thing you know now and have a plan.
Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

I was also diagnosed with PCOS. I did 2 rounds of Clomid and although I ovulated, the Clomid caused me to have a thin uterine lining, so we moved on from that pretty quickly. It is pretty normal to take some kind of progesterone for awhile to induce a period and then move on to treatment, and I didn't really have any side effects while taking the Clomid (no mood swings, only one hot flash).
I know it is really hard after getting diagnosed. I was diagosed in October and it's still hard for me to really feel ok about it. But this board is helpful with information, and you'll learn a lot. Good luck.
Hi there- I was diagnosed in January after 8 months of trying as well. I've been on 1000mg of Metformin for 2.5 months and did one failed round of IUI with injectables. Moving to round 2 when AF shows up.
I've never had to take any meds to bring on AF, but I know LOTS of girls have on this board, so you came to the right place.
As discouraging as this process is, it is hopeful to have a diagnosis you can work on/treat...it narrows down the cause of your particular problems.
Good luck!
