Re: Hi Purplefly!

  • Hello! Well since there is no Laft board, I feel more connected to the NO board, so I think they will be ok. My doctor is Dr. Bourque off of S. College. I went to 2 other docs just for consults & didn't click with them. I had my GYN in NO for 12 years and he diagnosed me with endo, so that was the hardest part of the move here, finding a doc I was comfortable with. The majority of the people I asked here gave raves reviews about LGMC, but I haven't really checked it out, b/c I just got my BFP this am. How long have you been here and where do you live?

  • I got my BFP about a month ago and It didn't take me long to get over here to the bump.  I live in Lafayette sort of near downtown.  so LGMC is a lot closer to my house too.  I have lived in Lafayette for the last 5 years and for the first 4 years I would drive back to Mandeville to see my gyn there.  Last year I decided I should probably suck it up and find someone I like here in Lafayette but it is hard.  I will probably schedule a consultation with Dr Padgett soon because I know he delivers at LGMC and I have a few friends who really like him.  When di dyou move to Lafayette? What brought yall here?

  • We moved 2 years ago for my job. There was a promotion opened in the Laft office and my DH & I were looking to get out of N.O. I love the city and will defend it to the end, but it's not a place we wanted to raise our family. MY DH went to UL and we had evacuated & lived here for Katrina, so we always liked it. We live in Youngsville, which was (and still is) an adjustment, but I really like it here.

I have heard lots of good things about Dr. Padgett. He & I were not on the same page when I went for my consult. He said he wouldn't want to talk about fertility problems after a 1 and a 1/2 of trying. With my history of endo and being early 30, I didn't want to wait that long to start basic tests. Not that I needed it anyway, since it only took 6 months. He also charged me full price ($180) for a 10 minute consult that my insurance wouldn't pay for. When I called to schedule the consult, I had inquired if "he offered them", but I should have been more specific about the costs. But again, my neighbor swears by him & she has 2 beautiful boys.

  • Ohhh no!  $180 just to talk to him for 10 min.  That is crazy. I'm so glad you told me about that before I went through it too.

Youngsville is nice, yall have a Rouses now too so that awesome.  A few of my friends live out there and we are looking to buy a house there too.
