No matter what name you choose, it may happen, so just pick a name you like. Sometimes we call DS "Lukas mucous" when he has a cold. He needs to learn to laugh at himself, right? LOL
As far as Super Cooper, I'd call him that! We call DS Lucky Luke and Kooky Lukie. I think those are fun, not bad.
My cousin (who is 14) is named Cooper, and we've always called him both of those -- in an endearing way!! To my knowledge he has never really been made fun of for his name. If anything, a lot of boys think it's pretty cool.
I was having this discussion with my friend Maria and she said they used to call her Maria Diarrhea or Maria Gonorrhea (jokingly), so you never know what they will come up with. Who would think Maria would be easy to make fun of?

My mom's name is Diane and kids used to say,"you should DIE Ann." Kids are horrible and will make fun of most names. In elementary school a couple kids called me Laura the bora. It only lasted about a week and didn't permanently harm me although I still remember!
Kids will find a way to make fun of anything. Don't worry too much about it!
Agreed. Also, I grew up with a Cooper, and I don't recall anyone ever making fun of him except to call him "Coach Cooper," b/c the coach of our hometown team, the OSU Buckeyes, at the time was Coach John Cooper:)
I LOVE the name cooper for a boy. It's my paternal grandmother's maiden name and it would sound great with our last name. Unfortunately, SIL's last name is also Cooper so it would be weird to have a kid with her current and former last name (DS's first & last names). But, like pp's said, your kid is going to be made fun of either way. Pick a name you like.
