Hey there Sara....I saw your reply below on my post about developmental issues... Kathy @ Riverside suggested either going through help me grow or making an appt and going with our insurance company. D and I discussed it and we are gonna try to just make an appt and see if insurance will cover it. From what I can tell, I think it will. If we have difficulties with that or if it isn't covered, we'll do HMG. But, neither D nor I were that happy with HMG when we started it briefly last fall. How's it working for you? Who's your coordinator?
Take care, Vera
Re: *****Beefsbride*****
Yes, 100% go through your insurance, first! I have not been impressed with HMG either (our coordinator's name is Jennifer . . . can't think of her last name off-hand). We are really fortunate that we don't have a "limit" on the number of PT sessions with our insurance, but each session does go against our deductible and eventually we'll have to pay 20% out of pocket (we have a consumer driven plan, so right now it is coming out of our HSA). In any event, I was hoping that we could use HMG if we couldn't get B-man into PT at Children's for a while, but it turns out their waitlist is even longer!! Jennifer said it could take months -- oh and since we've already gone through Children's for Bennett's PT they won't offer PT services to him through HMG. So in essence it has been a total waste of my time. I'd suggest if you can't get into Children's right away that maybe you look into the private route (if insurance will cover that, too -- I never really looked into this). Kathy gave us a list of private places that I could e-mail to you. Plus HMG gave me a HUGE book of their "resources" and there are some private therapy places there that I could look up for you as well.
Good luck to you guys! My e-mail address is sazelasko at yahoo dot com if you ever want to talk (or if you'd like for me to pass the list on to you).
Take care! Sara
We actually are going to one of the Children's Close to Home locations (Bennett went to the one in Hilliard for his initial assessment and then we were on the "list" for either Hilliard - closer to where we live - and Dublin - closer to where I work). We could not get an appointment without a referral from our pedi; once that was sent in it took a week for Children's to contact me to set up the appointment for the assessment. The earliest they could get us in was 4 weeks later in Hilliard (I didn't really want to go to the main campus, but we may have been able to get in there sooner). Then we waited 6 weeks to get officially set up -- B was considered a "priority 1" (highest) because of his age and it STILL took 6 weeks! They wanted to see him every week, but didn't have a spot open for him. So for the past month he was seen every-other week and they finally had a spot open weekly so he'll start his weekly appointments next week. We started this whole processes Feb. 17.
And it sounds like Kathy gave you the same list as she gave us. I never contacted anyone other than Childrens. You may want to page Kalki . . . she is a local nestie (new to C-bus) and I believe she is going the private PT route for her twins based on the wait lists with HMG & Children's. Good luck to you!!
