Milk time!

SOOOOOO I may end up just talking to myself over here, but I want to get to 500 posts before my anny (June 2nd) so I need to get busy!

DD is about to turn the big 1 and going to do the full transition off of formula (yikes!).  Anyone out there already done this?  If so do you have any tips?

I looked around a little last night and have a few ideas since just switching without warning is a little harsh (though some people swear by it).

Re: Milk time!

  • We gave her a little at a time. I think we might have used it with formula, just not the same amount, if that makes sense? Like although it says a scoop per 2 oz, we did maybe a scoop per 4?

The only thing is that Ava eats and drinks anything so it wasn't a big deal. We didn't even have to worry about changing formulas. She took it all!

That's what everyone I've asked has said.  That they just go straight to it right away.  DD will eat anything you give her but she's a little hinky about drinks so I was a bit worried about it.

  • I plan to switch B cold turkey - he'll eat/drink pretty much anything so hopefully it won't be a huge deal.

When were you thinking of doing the switch?  I was thinking end of this month/beginning of next.  Then again the idea of not spending $26 a week on formula is preeetty tempting Smile

I hadn't really thought about it.  I'll probably wait 'til after his birthday - he has his one year check-up on his birthday, so I'll talk to the pedi about it then.  When are you switching Bailey?

  • We went ahead and did it.  There were a few little test runs and she loved it so we just made the switch.  The doctor seemed fine with it since she was doing ok with it so no more formula.

Technically her 1 year check up isn't until later next month, but as you know, we go there a lot for ear checks so I talked to them last week about it.

  • Have they mentioned doing tubes?  B got tubes in March and he's like a different baby!

  • I really wish they would just go ahead and do tubes but they keep putting it off.  I've been ok with it up until this point, but if she gets another infection and they don't send us to an ENT then I'll just take her on my own.  I just feel so bad for her because otherwise she is SUCH a great kid, she just gets so cranky and miserable with her ears. :(

  • Dr. Wohl did B's tubes and he was fabulous to work with.  I was a nervous wreck and a huge mess and he was great with me.. and with B :)

By the time B woke up from his post-surgery nap, you couldn't tell that he had anything done, he was back to normal.  It was harder on me than him.

We switched to milk this week.. YAY for no more formula!
