It's my last day...

at my job that I've had for almost 5 years...

You'd think I'd be thrilled that starting next week I'll be working part-time, but I'm actually really sad about leaving! I love (almost) everyone here, it's a great place to work, it's pretty low-stress, I'm just so comfortable here...I'm wondering if I'm making a huge mistake starting all over somewhere new in a position that will be inevitably busier and more stressful (and less $). Hopefully the new challenges will be good for me, and the reduced hours will be worth it.

As a side note, today will also be my last day of daytime nesting Crying LOL (Well, I may stop in on my day off or in the late afternoons when I'm home, but no more all-day nesting for me)

Re: It's my last day...

  • I certainly understand your feelings!  It's like anything new - is the grass really greener on the other side?  I think it's normal to feel that way until you get a little more comfortable in your new job.  Good luck, I hope it goes really well for you.

We are SO going to miss you on here!

  • What a bittersweet transition. It's always hard going into the unknown, but I have a feeling you put a lot of thought into making this change for yourself and your family. I think new beginnings are very exciting! Good luck getting through today!
  • Congrats again on the new job!

Starting a new job is always stressful IMO.  It might take awhile to get in the groove there but hopefully you love it and I'm sure you'll love the extra time with your girls!  Good luck!

  • I think it's totally normal to feel this way when leaving a job you enjoy. But, I think you will LOVE working part time. We will miss you during the day!

  • Aw, it's a bittersweet day for sure.  It's always hard to take that leap into the unknown  but I truely believe that you'll be happier in the long run.  It may take some time, but eventually you'll love your new job and you have the huge added bonus of getting to spend the extra time with your beautiful girls!

Hang in there and try to have a great last day!

  • OK wait - when we were talking about if this was a good move or not, you failed to mention that it would mean that we would have less time with you! Surprise

Is it too late to say, nah, the closeness to home, the flexible boss and schedule and an extra full day with the girls - aah, it's not that great?
