I know this is early to think about - but DH and I are budgeting and curious as to what life is like with the cost of just diapers and formula. If you FF, how much do you spend per month?
We FF and my DD is 5 months old, we spend on average about 100 a month on diapers, and 250 a month on formula, about 2 containers a week, about $24 a can. She just started solids so now that cost (of just formula) is going to go down. On the diapers aspect, we were lucky because we didnt have to buy diapers for the 1st 4 months! We got diapers from showers, and left overs from friends/family (and I wasnt too picky)! My advice is to get a whole bunch of different brands, of the ones you think you would like in varying sizes, to stock up. my DD was in size 2 probably the longest. And every brand of diapers fits differently even though they may be the same size. Dont however, stock up on formula. Your LO might have problems with certain kinds, or may be gassy and need a sensitive kind, you never know. Sorry this is so long... HTH!

Wow you go threw formula quick! We do Enfamil and with the coupons and all we spend about $60 a month on formula. We have cloth diaper service which is $16 a week.
DS does not care what brand of formula he eats so we buy whatever's on sale and we have coupons for. This makes our cost go way down. I don't track what we spend each week/month but I do know I have saved hundreds of dollars doing this so far.
Our pedi assured us that the generic brands and name brands are basically the same, so we use the Walmart brand formula. He eats about 5 cans per month at about $12 per can, so the cost is around $60 per month. Similac was costing us about $120 per month.
Re: Cost of formula per month?
Oh my!! Are you talking the liquid ready to feed? Or just the powder?
thanks for the advice!! it helps alot!
We use Similac Sensitive RS, mostly in ready to feed but also in powder.
We go through about one bottle per day, with a bottle costing an average of $5.70 or so, for a total of give or take $170.
The powder would last us about a week if we used it exclusively, so that would total about $100 a month.
(Note that LO is not even 2 months yet, so usage will increase as he continues to eat more each day).
We buy our Similac Advance at Sam's. The 34 oz powder lasts almost a week. It's about $28 a can, I think.
So a little over $100 a month.
I highly recommend going to the companies websites and signing yourself and the grandmothers up for formula checks.
