So my baby sister (yes I still call her my baby sister) is getting married in August. She is the last of us 3 girls to get married and my older sister and I want to make her shower really special for her. It will be her only shower b/c fiance's family is really small. She has always wanted a destination wedding, but also wanted her family to be present. So we thought it would be nice to give her a "Paradise" themed shower. I need some ideas on food and decorations or anything else you have to offer up. We will be having around 50 people and we always make more food than needed. (better to have food left over than not enough) We are going to do little sandwiches since the shower will be at the end of June and outside. But I need some clever ideas and your girls are PERFECT for this. I also need some good ideas for some games to be played. My family is BIG on the games and we have had a LOT of bridal/baby shower we have attended in the past 3 years, so we have seen alot of different games. Any cool ideas? Anything will help. I'm trying to make everything based around the "Paradise" theme. And I want this to be extra special for my baby sis ![]()
TIA
You ladies are always awesome when it comes to ideas and advice ![]()
Re: Bridal Shower help needed......
I would think start off "leing" people as they arrive. You can get a box of leis pretty reasonable. Here:

Then have pitchers of mixed froo froo beverages and "corona" (Of course I realize some are sticklers to the usual but others will definitly partake in the festive thought). Drinks: Margaritas, Lava Flows, Strawberry Daquaries, Pina Coladas. And serve all with an umbrella.
Food I would think maybe "luau" type? Here's a website full of ideas including a Hawaiian Weddig Cake. They all incorporate "island" traditional flavors which I think you are looking for.

Games a limbo contest would be in order! JK!
Oh! and make your sister "the guest of honor" wear this:

HAHA!
It's tradition in DH's family to have a luau couple's shower. They go all out with Tiki huts, leis, fancy drinks (ours had Rum Runners and Mai Tais) in those 5-gallon water jugs with the spout on them, plenty of beer, tropical candles, tiki torches, etc. It is held in his Aunt's backyard, around her swimming pool to set the mood. The food is usually a mixture of all kinds of things, not necessarily tropical themed, because each Aunt brings a few dishes.
We had a limbo contest one year and some sort of pin the lei on the bride and groom game another year. We also had a wooden cutout where you put your head in the whole and look like a surfer at ours.
Every year for entertainment, they have they cousins perform some sort of skit. On year the guys did a hula dance complete with grass skirts and coconut bras. Another year they re-enatced the proposal because it was a funny one. Our year, they wrote a song about our dating history and his Aunt sang while the cousins acted it out.
They usually use Oriental Trading for most of the tropical decorations.
