2nd Trimester

Appendix Scar

I had my appendix removed when I was 5, long long time ago, and the scars from back then were huge.  Nothing like the ones today.  Anyway, I was just wondering if I will feel it stretching or not to sound too dramatic it could start opening up. If that is even possible, it's super sensitive in that area.

Anybody else have a scar similar to that?

  • I have an appendix scar, its smaller, just from about 4 or 5 years ago and it has always been sore. More so with pregnancy. I even had it checked once for a hernia but they said its probably just scar tissue. I feel it stretching & its worse if I cough or sneeze, stretch etc. It can't tear open this many years later tho, its all healed.

I had to have my colon removed 8 years ago thanks to Crohn's disease...the scar goes from my belly button to my pubic bone, and I haven't noticed anything, other than my tummy being itchy in general.  I'm sure you'll be fine.

  • I had my appendix out when I was 10, and although the scar is small, it does have some hard scar tissue behind it.   I actually asked my doc once my belly started to stretch and she said there was no danger of it doing anything weird.
  • I had open surgery to remove my appendix in jan of 2006, it always hurts and feels odd.  Their is alot of scar tissue, It does feel more akward than normal lately.  It would depend on the amount of scar tissue you have.  Mine is about 4 inches long.
