Cradle cap kind of exploded on my DD. At the initial onset, I rubbed olive oil into her scalp to loosen the flakes. I combed them out at the point and then washed her hair. Since then the cradle cap has gotten a lot better and I'm just leaving it alone.
DS son BARELY has any signs of Cradle cap. My pedi said to just use a very small amount of dandruff shampoo and a pea size amount of baby oil after bath on head. TI would go away on it's own.
When I wash my baby's hair, I put on the baby shampoo and then use a baby brush to scrub her head. She enjoys the massage and I have not had any problems with cradle cap.
The past week or so we had some issues with cradle cap, and I put some baby oil on her head and let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then I brushed her hair and loosened all the flakes. Then I gave her a bath and shampooed her hair.
It's much better now and I try and brush her hair daily.
