When my DD was in daycare, she was only allowed to wear sneakers, so crocs would have definitely been a no-no.

just sneakers. no sandals. I haven't seen crocs either but I don't put my dc in them just b/c I don't care for them. they look cute on little ones. but nms and they don't seem to go with any of dc clothing.
My DS doesn't go to daycare but goes to pre-school. I have never sent him in crocs and can't remember if I've seen other kids in them. It doesn't say anything in the handbook though. Personally I don't think crocs are that much more cooler than cotton socks and cotton tennis shoes...especially since they are plastic.
FWIW, when I worked for a family practice we had a couple of little ones come in with blisters on the bottom of their feet. The doctor (and the mom's) thought it was from wearing crocs without socks.
Yes, the only shoes he can't wear are anything with an open toe.
Crocs are great, they are closed toes and stay on the kids feet. Plus the kids can usually put them on by themselves.
ditto - our daycare has the same policy. They actually prefer crocs becuase they are easier to take them off and clean their feet when they come inside. socks and sneakers trap the pea stones or whatever covers the playground and they get dirtier.
My daycare allows Crocs, but they encourage you to have your child wear sneakers or closed-toe sandals. I don't let DS wear Crocs because he has a hard time running in them, and I personally don't think they are safe.
Joey's preschool doesn't allow them. They just sent a memo home and "reminded" the parents that Crocs are not suitable footwear for the playground. He doesn't have any problems playing in them at home
The shoes he wears there are taken off when he gets there, and they keep a second pair there for when he plays outside daily that get dirty. We just discussed it yesterday; they would let me bring crocs but strongly prefer sneakers with socks.
We got some knock-offs from TCP that are more full foot. They have a full back (not just a strap) but they are still breathable. Our DC allows those. They have asked US, however, not to allow DS to wear them because he is constantly taking them off.
Re: Does your daycare allow Crocs?
MDO suggests that we don't let them wear them.
