So many reasons to hate Oprah

Oprah Winfrey was asked to give the commencement address at the esteemed Duke University this past weekend. She was truly inspiring, especially when she talked about how lucky she is:

"It's great to have a nice home. It's great to have nice homes! It's great to have a nice home that just escaped the fire in Santa Barbara. It's great to have a private jet. Anyone that tells you that having your own private jet isn't great is lying to you."

Yeah, we get it. You're really rich and you love it. Yay for the economy not affecting you.

Ish.  All of that could change overnight.  Nothing in life is guaranteed.  She certainly shouldn't brag about her wealth b/c you never know what can happen tomorrow.

I read that and got a little pissed off. Yes Oprah we know you're a billionaire. But to talk like that in THIS economy is a little backwards.

I'm sure she was saying something whose context is unknown since there was only that one quote.  I'm so sick of all the Oprah hateration.  So she's rich and she loves it (I would too), so she's a shameless AW (so are most celebrities).  Who the hell cares?  I hate Martha Stewart -- I think she's an elitist beyotch -- but I don't spend my days moaning about it.

I would bet that Oprah is still gonna be rich tomorrow.  And probably the next day after that.

eh- oprah helps alot of people too, which is more than some other celebs do.

I love Oprah, but agree that this was probably taken out of context. ?Have you seen her show? ?She does so much for so many groups of people...I think she realizes how lucky she is, that's more than a lot of these other celebrities can say for themselves! ?

She'll never be richer than me. I have a husband who love me and a daughter that I never thought I could have. Hooray for my old house and hyundai, and my private jet/mansion sized heart that is overflowing.

Yeah, my DH just graduated from Duke but I passed on going to see Oprah. ?First of all, sitting out in the sun with DS during his naptime didn't sound all that fun, but I'm just not all about her. ?I figured I could catch the speech on YouTube later anyways, but maybe I'll pass on that too. ?Why would she go on like that? ?What on earth was her point? ?Oh geez, maybe I will have to watch...
