Is 5 yrs too late to preserve wedding dress?

We are coming up on our 5 year anniversary and I have STILL not dry cleaned or preserved my wedding dress.  It's been on my to do list for...well...a very long time.  Do you think it's too late to do it now?  Will they be able to get the stains out 5 years later?

  • LMAO! I was totally thinking the same thing. Our anni is coming up on Friday, and my dress is still in the closet all gross too. I totally want to do a Trash the Dress shoot, but I'm not sure that I will fit in it. Embarrassed
  • Good question, and I have no answer.  Mine is still hanging in the same spot in my closet from over 4 years ago. LOL

  • LOL - I was JUST wondering the same thing this past weekend. I think they will still be able to clean/preserve it.

I'm torn between bothering to get it cleaned or just stuffing it in a plastic bin. I think the latter might win. DD will most likely never want to wear it (just as I had NO interest in wearing my moms) but I still want to save it and make her a wedding quilt or something from it.

  • DH and I haven't had a ceremony yet, we have both been between deployments and haven't found the time lol.... would it be tacky to have one? My sister just got her dress dry cleaned and preserved and they got married 3 yrs ago so maybe....
  • You could probably still do it.  I had mine done around 3 years after and it was fine.
  • I don't think it's too late.  I would always take it to the dry cleaners & ask them what they thought, at worst they can get most of the stains out & then preserve it.
