i know its a silly question but i have been told sooo many different answers! some people say im 6 months some say 7 some even say the end of my 5th...does anyone really know how many months you are at 27 weeks???thanks!
It's all very arbitrary... I just count backwards from my due date. So, on May 17, I'll say I'm 6 months pregnant because I'm due August 17. When you say months, especially this late, people quickly do the math and add up to 9 months to figure out when you're due. I could say I'm 6 1/2 months now (or something like that) but then people would think I'm due way before I am.
According to your ticker you are due August 13th, right? So you have 3 months to go. So you have completed 6 months. If someone asked you how many months you are, I would say 6. That's how I always figure it out in months.
If you told me you were 7 months, I'd say, "Ok, so you're due in July?" But you're not. See where I'm coming from? The months don't *really* matter anyway and of course WE know pregnancy is tracked in weeks. But make it easy on the common folk.
This is why I stick to weeks. I know I'm technically in the last week of my 5th month, blah, blah, blah, and about to start my 6th month (according to WTEWYE), but the weeks make more sense.
I divide by 4. You are almost 7 months- next week when you hit your 3rd tri at 28 weeks you will be 7 months.
I look at it like age. When you turn 21, you say that you are 21 years old. You do not say that you are in your 22nd year of life. When you are 20 and 11 months old, you say that you are almost 21 years old.

Ditto! I feel like to most people, nine months pregnant = on the verge of delivery. And because most people not currently or recently pregnant aren't going to think of your pregnancy in weeks, give it to them in months. I count backwards too rather than dividing it into four-week chunks, because every month except February is slightly longer than four weeks (this is also why it's a stretch when people say "pregnancy is really ten months" ... there's enough we can vent about without having to exaggerate it)

This is how I calculate for people that ask me how many months I am. Most people have no clue that you are actually pregnant for longer than 9 months

well, you're doing your calculations on a 9 month pregnancy, but 40 weeks is actually 10 months. so i stick to my 7 months.

I'd go with this. My LMP was Dec. 3rd and I am due Sept. 9, so my 40 weeks isn't close to 10 months at all. It's right at 9. I could be induced at 42 weeks and that still isn't 10 months. I just count back from 9/9/09 and say whatever is closest. I don't do 3/4 months or anything either. I'm either 5 months, 5 1/2 or 6. When people ask, I think they just want a general idea anyhow.

Which is exactly what most people will do. How many people who have never been pg are going to count up to 10 months? Most don't even know pregnancy is 40 weeks or if they do, they don't think about it. They think 9 months.

Most girlst i know did go past their due date but everyone is different. i counted it as 4 weeks per month..

that's why i go by weeks.. much easier
Of course it's easier for US to go by weeks. I think the purpose of figuring out months is for other people's sake. When you tell someone weeks who knows nothing about pregnancy, they look at you like you're crazy. Of course many girls go past their due date. But people still care about when you're due so they have *some* idea of when your baby will be here.

And which one of us cares what other think? I just tell people. I'm 6 months or I'm almost 7 months. If they do they math and say oh, so you're due in July, I then say, No I'm due in August. Most people don't. They just say oh, congratulations!

LOL. True! Only then... they walk away thinking you can't do math.

27 divided by 4 = 6.75. You are almost 7 months. You are most definitely NOT at the end of your 5th unless you are having an extraordinarily long gestation.
