QOTW: Do you have any pets? What kinds and what are their names?  How are they with the kids if you have any?

Updates welcome!!!

Our kids are 19mths apart and we LOVE it!!

Married to my BFF on 8.13.05 (after dating 5 years)!

DS born 2.14.08. DD born 9.30.09.

Re: **Weekly Mommy Check-in**

  • QOTW: We have a dog (German Shephard Mix) and a cat (black n white kitty).  Our dog is Cleo and our cat is Spaz.  They are both like 6 & 7 years old.  They don't really care for DS much at all but they are not aggressive towards him.  They tend to stay away from him, LOL!  I wish they were more relaxed around him but they were used to no kids for so long I guess they prefer it that way, hehe.

Updates: Nothing new really.  DS is finally feeling better after having his little stomache bug and he is such a ham, we absolutely love every minute with him :-)  The pregnancy is going well.  I feel the baby move more and more each day but this baby is less active so far than DS was.  My m/s has gotten much better (not gone yet but MUCH better)!  We find out the sex of the baby next Tuesday so we are excited!!!  Have a great week ladies!

  • hey Girls!

QOTD: No pets for us... I like animals, but have no desire to have any of my own right now. Maybe in a few years....

Updates: Jack is doing great... amazes me everyday. He's a kid now! Running, playing with neighbors, scraping his knees... he is also talking in sentences which is so cool!

Pregnancy is gong great! We have alot to figure out as far as room, cribs, toddler beds, paint.... Due Date moved to 9/10/09.

    Hope you all are well!

  • QOTW: We have a miniature dachshund named Lindsey. She and Leah get along very well. Leah follows her around the house saying, "woof, woof" and Lindsey is very patient with her and cleans up her food when she's done eating :).

Updates: We had a great first birthday and Leah is growing! She is climbing in and out of her little chair. She's on all whole milk now and all sippy cups. Her one-year checkup is Thursday and we're hoping for lots of weight gain (she needs to be 16.7 lbs.) so we don't have to worry about adding Pediasure to her milk.

  • I have a cat, but she lives at my parents house.  She's got the typical finicky cat personality so she doesn't really care for kids, but she's not agressive with them.  She just ignores them or hides from them.   Other than that we don't have any pets.  I don't know if we'll have any in the future.  We love animals, but don't really care to have them as pets.  If anything it would be a dog, probably a lab or a beagle or both.  We're totally the type of people (me especially) who would treat our animals like children, so now just wouldn't be the right time, too many other focuses right now.

  • I have to admit I just got chills seeing that Happy Birthday message.  My baby is actually turning 1!  It feels like he was born yesterday. :-)

QOTW: We have 4 kitties who are our first babies.  I can't believe how many people told me I would forget about my cats once Logan got here.  First of all they would NEVER let us do that and second of all pets are a lifetime commitment to me.  Carson Palmer is terrified of Logan and pretty much has been since day 1.  Tootsie is semi-scared of him.  Pumpkin is too curious to be afraid and Tiger (who is normally the meanest cat) is good with him.  He lets Logan "pet" him (we're REALLY trying to teach gentle touches but he has just not grasped that concept yet).

  • We have one dog and four cats. We both love animals, but our house is tiny and it's definitely packed! We weren't thinking that we'd still be in our little house when we had one kid, let alone two, but this is just how things worked out!

Our dog is Sully, he's a black cocker/lab/who knows mix. He's old and nice and scared of everything. He's fine with the girls, not very interested in them, mostly runs away from Piper. She tries to call him but she pronounces Sully more like "Saw-e" so he doesn't listen. It makes her mad!

    Our cats are:

Nala (we mostly call her Rat) - Pretty tan, Oriental-Shorthair mix. She's the naughtiest cat ever, I can't even get into all of the things she's done! But she's also very friendly and very loving towards the girls.

Misty - tortie, she's very sweet but very shy. We don't see much of her when the girls are awake :-(

Thornton -  He's a huge orange furball. He's also the one that ate a baby bottle nipple and needed $3,000 surgery a couple years ago, grr...we joke that he better live to be 20 for the investement we made! He's a cuddler - he'll climb into my lap and try to sit on Kady while I'm nursing her. He's kind of shy around strangers but is a loving cuddlebug with us.

Betty is a cat that we fostered and just decided to keep because she made so much progress with us and we knew she's revert back to her old mean ways if we gave her to someone else. She's white/grey/black. She's kind of a loner but does try to cuddle ocassionally. You still have to be careful with her though because she'll snap out of nowhere. We try to keep her away from the girls as much as we can for this reason.

Not much to say on the girls - they're both wonderful! We have so much fun with them.

I always had birds growing up cause my brothers and I were allergic to dogs.  I never wanted a pet at this stage in our lives, but about 4 years ago our nephew found a cockatiel in their backyard.  Poor little thing was probably let go and we think he was out there at least a week and practically starving.  After getting checked out by the vet and trying to find his owners, we adopted him.  His name is Spike.  Caleb likes to point to him and say "bir" and thinks it's funny when he tries to whistle the Andy Griffith song.  But Spike isn't real interested in DS and gets a little irritated when Caleb gets too close with loud toys.  Spike is a very high maintenance bird, possibly because of some separation issues from being abandonded.  But when he gets on a screeching rampage he has to go to time out!  LOL!!

Update:  DS has been cracking us up with his attempts to talk.  He's obsessed with the toaster and will stand there and say "POP" until it pops.  And everything is "yummy, yummy, yummy!"  We've had a bit of a break through with his picky eating.  He has gotten really good at feeding himself with a spoon and fork and is a little more receptive to trying new things.....thank goodness!

  • We have 2 cats - Howie (or Howard as we usually call him) and Chance.

They are great with the kids.  Lily should have lost both eyeballs and have scratches up and down her body for the way she torments Howie, but he is very patient with her.  Hasn't come close to getting back at her...yet! Wink

  • We currently have one cat.  She is all black except for a nickel-sized white spot on her chest, so cute!  My brother gave her to me 6 years ago when my first cat died........she is truly the love of my life.  Unfortunately, she has never trusted Justin, even when he was tiny and couldn't touch her, much less realize she even existed.  We don't see much of her at all until Justin goes to bed.  I feel bad for her since we are having another one.  I feel like I'm doing a disservice to her, but I guess she will adapt.  I hope!

I/we would like to get a dog someday soon.  It's really me more than DH, but I know better than to get a dog now when I'm going to have a potty-training toddler and an infant.  We had a dog when we first met and I miss him a lot.  Justin would LOVE a dog -- my parents have 3, my sister has 2 and he loves to pet them.  He likes to go visit our neighbors' dogs.  He calls them "foofs".  So cute.

Justin is doing OK.  He learns several new words each week and is always surprising us with new things he can say.  He is such a little helper around the house and is all about his daddy right now.  I love it.  He is also obsessed with bellies and wants to pull up his own and everybody else's shirt to tickle their belly button.   :)

Justin Thomas joined us on 8.4.07
    Tyler Anthony arrived on 9.21.09

  • QOTW: Do you have any pets? What kinds and what are their names?  How are they with the kids if you have any?

We have an almost 6 year old chocolate lab named Willie. He is GREAT with Ryan. Except when she tries to step on his paws. He has very sensitive paws for some reason and he hates when anyone touches them. If Ryan gets near them he usually lets out a low growl and walks away. For the most part Ryan is great with him. She always wants to hug him and pet him. She will usually pet him and say "aw soft puppy!". It is too cute. Of course last night she attempted to gouge his eyes out and he just sat there and took it! She is a major dog lover so anytime we see one, she HAS to pet it. She isn't even afraid of my IL's 2 Rottweilers! All they do is lick her and knock her over and she laughs.

Updates; Pregnancy is going well. He moves ALL the time. I have even brought meetings to a hault at work because people stare at my freak show of a belly when he moves. It's kinda embarrasing! Ryan is loving talking and singing to my belly and the baby. At night she says "cuddle w/ baby" and she will lay her head on my belly. I love it! The other day he kicked her and she just looked at my belly. I told her that baby brother wants to come out and play with her and she said NO and ran away. Oh boy!

  • We have a German shepherd named Jessie. Poor Jessie, she was about the most spoiled dog on Earth before Ellie came along, and things have certainly changed for her since. She's a good dog, though. She and Ellie have an almost sibling-like relationship: Ellie steals Jessie's toys, Jessie either steals her toys back or comes and tattles to me. She's very good with the baby, although she doesn't want to be climbed on and runs away when Ellie starts that. She is bothered by Ellie's crying and comes to check on her and she loves going on walks with all of us, and when she thinks we're in danger, she tries to protect us. Ellie LOVES Jessie. Jessie was her first word and she calls her all the time. She also likes to feed her from her high chair. Dogs are about her favorite thing ever.

As for updates, Ellie has her first ear infection and first dose of antibiotic. She was pretty miserable. She's cruising a lot and moving from toy to toy. She is just so big!

  • We have a 20 lb cat.  He is a friendly cat and loves to cuddle, but he's a little wary of babies and kids.  He's warmed up to Katie now that he realizes she's going to be around for awhile and sometimes tries to cuddle with us when I'm holding her, which is pretty awkward because there's only enough room on my lap for one of them!  We would like to get a dog eventually but don't think it's fair to the cat (or hypothetical dog) to add another animal when we just added a new family member.  We'd like to wait until we are done having kids to get a dog so we have time to devote to getting the dog acclimated to being a member of our family!

Updates:  I'm back at work (day 2) and things are going well.  It was hard to leave, but I enjoy my job and I came back to a lot of things to do.  I had a good first day back but boy was I glad to get home!  Pumping at work is surprisingly not as much of a hassle as I thought it would be (so far).  I like it better than pumping at home, that's for sure.  I have an office so I can do it at my desk while I do emails or other work (or nest...).

  • We have 1 dog Marnie, he is a shih-tzu/Yorkie mix.  My dad breeds dogs in Florida and sent Marnie up for Ryleigh 2 years ago.  Ryleigh absolutely loves him and he loves her most of the time!   There are some times that I need to remind Ryleigh to leave him alone!

    Updates:

I stopped this morning and got all of Ryleigh's registration papers for Kindergarten in the fall (I know, I'm behind, but we just moved!)  How sad!  I don't know what I'm going to do come August!

When I dropped Ryleigh off at Daycare/Pre-school today her teacher pulled me aside and was telling me how smart Ryleigh is and that she has so much common sense for her age.  It was great to hear such good things, I thought for sure she was going to tell me some "bad" stuff!!!  :)   She keeps telling me that I need to pay close attention when she starts school and make sure I get her in "advanced" classes!  I'm so proud of my "little" girl!!

     Sorry that got long!!!  :)

  • We have two kitties

Jezebel - She's my first baby. A petite little black cat. She was the first pet I got on my own. She stays downstairs most the time when Nora is awake and is usually sleeping by the baby monitor we have down there. When she hears me put Nora to bed, she comes around to cuddle. She also sleeps by my side every night.

Hank- He is the little naughty half Siamese cat we got a Christmas this year. He is a total lap hog. Nora gets very jealous of this. If she sees Hank on our laps, she say's "off" and then wants to sit in his place. He is a total pushover and Nora can pretty much do anything to him and he sits there and takes it.

Nora is changing so much. She is saying little sentences now. I wish I could pinpoint when it happened, but it seemed so sudden. The thing we hear the most from her is, "I hold yyyyooooouuuuuu". This really means she wants us to pick her up. I injured my foot last weekend and almost everyday since I catch her rubbing her foot, saying "It hurts!" :-)

  • We have 2 dogs and 3 cats!!

Dogs-- Meaghi, she's a chow/golden retriever mix, 12 years old  She doesn't have anything to do with Hunter. She will sometimes come up and sniff him but other than that she stays away----Chewbacca (aka Chewie) he's a chow/terrier/something mix, he will be 2 in July. He was very protective of the baby when we 1st brought him home; he would growl & chase any of the animals that came near Hunter. He doesn't bother Hunter though--I think he's still trying to figure him out!

Cats-- Blackie Chan, our all black cat who used to be an outside cat at my in-laws house. When we bought our house we brought him in--he is so lovable and will come to anybody that comes in the house bc he wants them to pet him! he doesn't come around the baby though!---Meeker, our black and white cat who just turned 3 doesn't bother the baby either. he will sometimes come around to sniff him but that's about it!---Darth Vader (aka vader) our prettiest cat  who is 1 this  month, has really started coming around since we brought Hunter home. He likes to come up and check him out, sniff him, and try to walk on him!

Hunter is going to be 1 month old tomorrow! I can't believe it! He is getting big fast :( We have his 1 month checkup next week!

  • QOTW: Do you have any pets? What kinds and what are their names?  How are they with the kids if you have any? We have one cat, Nick.  He was really scared of Isabelle at first but know for the most part he tolerates her, sometimes he'll be really sweet & actually sleep in her toddler bed with her.  He is about 6 years old & most of the time just a fat (14lbs) lazy cat.

Update:  We found out last Friday that Oliver is breech so we had to choose between trying to "flip" him or schedule a C Section.  After a whole lot of praying & thinking I decided to go with a C Section & we have scheduled it for next Friday the 22nd, a week before my due date but good lord this boy already weighs 8.5lbs & his lungs are fully developed so I'm happy to get him out!  I'm very nervous about a C Section, I hate needles & all that so the thought of someone cutting me open is not appealing at all but I am excited to finally see my son, even if it means spending all Memorial Day weekend in the hospital.

  • No pets for us.  I doubt if we'll every get any in the future either.

Allie is loving sitting up!  She's also learning how to get down from a sitting position, which is funny to watch.  She's not feeling too well this week.  We're not sure if it's teeth or something else.  Her sleeping has gotten much better lately and we hope it continues in that direction.

  • No animals for us. Two kiddos is enough to focus on for the moment. I would LOVE a dog and so would Kellen, but our yard is not made for dogs. We will definitely be getting one when we move in the next couple years.

Update: Kellen has a couple weeks of school left. He is really excited about that b/c he LOVES summer camp!!  He is playing baseball right now and loves being able to play with his friends outside of school. Ayden just turned 10 months old on Friday and is growing way to fast. He is eating more finger foods and walks around like crazy. He never crawls anymore. He is actually starting to walk really fast and it looks like he is running. To funny!! He is like his big brother and loves to be outside.

  • We have one dog and 2 cats..

Murphy: Our lovable Goldendoodle... he is such a sweet dog, and he is so gentle and loving around Madelyn. He is 80 lbs. but he doesn't know his own size! He likes to sit near Madelyn when she plays with her toys, and she has even begun to play with his tail or reach to pet him. He is very good at realizing when it's 'time' to leave! He moves to another room if Madelyn starts playing with his tail too much to his liking. :) He loves giving her kisses on the cheek too.

Milo: One of 2 of our 20 lb. cats... yes, they have weight issues that we have been trying to resolve for years.. no success! :) He is my cat I brought into DH's and I's relationship, and he is very ornery. One minute he is purring and cuddly, and the next, he's fiesty and unpredictable. However, he is always calm and gentle around DD.  Milo loves to terrorize our other cat.

Reece: Reece is DH's cat, and he is the older, more esteemed cat. :) He's like "don't mess with me!" He is very cuddly and affectionate, but doesn't pay too much attention to DD. Milo and Reece love to chase each other around the house (Murphy gets involved too), and Reece usually wins the battles. He loves to wedge himself between DH and I at night while sleeping.

Update: Madelyn is cruising everywhere, and getting some goose egg injuries on her forehead from little spills she's taking in the process. We are really struggling to get her to transition to the sippy cup - we are trying the Nuby soft spouts but she isn't interested in them... any tips? No green light for cow's milk yet - she is on go N grow by similac until the GI doc gives us the ok that she's gained enough weight. (Still around mid- 15 # mark... check-up next Tuesday!) Her feeding appt. at children's is May 27.

  • QOTW: We have one really unsociable cat who actually comes around Katherine and let's us "do nice to the kitty", hand over hand petting. ?She seems to love it. ?She hates everyone else on the planet.

We are recently approved by the local Golden Retriever Rescue group so we are patiently waiting for a new addition.

Update: She finally decided it was time to grow some teeth. ?Out of nowhere there were two of them popping through. ?

  • I have 2 dogs:

Ruby- 4 year old, blonde, chinese shar pei

Gracie- 1 year old, caramel colored, chinese shar pei/chow mix

They are both great with kids Smile The only problem I have is they are lickers.

Update: Just finished round 2 of clomid & now it's the waiting game. So we'll see how it goes.

  • I have to say that I cannot wait to be on the list of "expecting mothers" one of these days!

We have 2 black labs, Savannah who is 5 yrs old and Sydney who is 2.5 yrs old.

Our dogs are pretty good around our nephew who is 14 months.  I'm curious to see how they will be around a new baby but I'm sure they'll be great. (Well I'm hoping atleast!)

QOTW:  No pets here either.  DH is allergic to cat hair/dog hair, etc... so I'm not sure if we'll ever get one.  It may sound selfish, but I like the luxury of not having to worry about the pets when I go on a vacation/ out for a while, etc... or cleaning up pet hair/feeding them, etc...  We have enough going on in our life.  We may wind up with fish down the road... possibly a hamster/gerbil, but we shall see.

Updates:  Brandon is getting way too big!  He is cruising and crawling everywhere.  We are having to childproof everything pronto.  I can't believe my baby is turning into a toddler... (I know it's not yet but when he's cruising everywhere it sure seems that way).  DH can get him to "walk" with him, but he will not do the "walking" with him when I'm in the room.  He started saying "ummm" (yum) today when DH was feeding him brunch.  So cute!!!  Our sleeping issues have gotten better in the last few days.  We added a lovey in his crib, turned on a night light in his room, and closed the door to our room so he can't hear the alarm/tv, and the combo has definitely made a difference.  We still plan to ferberize, and we're working on finishing the parts of his book that we need to do that.

  • I'm glad to see we aren't the only crazy people with lots of pets and a baby. :)

We have 3 dogs. ?Our dogs are Ted Brogan- a 4 year old 60 lb. mutt that we adopted as a puppy when we lived in SC. ?Callie, a 2 year old 50 lb. mutt that we adopted after we got married. ?Finally New Dogg, a 25 lb. stray that found us while we were walking the other 2 dogs a year and a half ago. ?We are?adamant?that we weren't going to keep her so we didn't give her a name. ?After a few months of trying to find her a home, we decided to keep her. ?Since she responded so well to New Dogg, that's her name now. ?

Our cat Sophie died in April from kidney failure. ?I got her 7 years ago after I graduated from college. ?She was the best cat and she adjusted so well to getting the dogs and then a baby. ?It was very sad but we did everything we could do to save her. ?

Elena loooooves the dogs. ?Lately she has really started grabbing at them and squealing loudly when they walk past her. ?They like her too. ??

  • We don't have any pets.  I would love to have a puppy but just feel like we really don't have the time.  We both had a miniature schnauzer growing up, and we also love Westies and Terriers :)

Ethan is so fun.  We never put on cartoons before, but in the past two weeks he has discovered The Backyardigans and is in love, LOL.  We got him a little upholstered chair at Homegoods (so cute!) and when the opening music comes on, he will run over to his little chair, sit down, bang on the armrests, get up and dance, and repeat the process.  At the end of the show when they come back for a snack, he starts waving bye to them.  It's really funny to watch him :)  He points to everything and says "see!"  We are enjoying every minute.

  • QOTW: Do you have any pets? What kinds and what are their names?  How are they with the kids if you have any? We currently have our golden retriever and our husky mix, they are permanent fixtures in our house. The third dog is DH's brother's, and he's keeping him while DH recovers from his kidney donation surgery.

Our dogs are great around our neices and nephews. All ranging in ages from 9 years old to 18 months. We are conditioning them now how to act around children, so when we go to have our own it's not a big shock for them.

Update: I had a BFN over the weekend, AF was most likely late due to the stress of DH's surgery. Not sure if there will be any baby making this month, due to the restrictions DH is on while he recovers. But, I know it's still early in TTC, so we have time.
