I've always thought of this as a boys name but I've been hearing about a few girls being named this recently? Do you think this name has the potential to become unisex (e.g., Jordan)? I like the name but I'm trying to stay away from unisex or girls names for a boy.
Re: Is Ryan unisex?
Ditto, but unfortunately, it is becoming unisex. ?
I defintely think of it more as a boy's name (it's my son's actually), but I have heard of it for a girl. Which I think it's cute. But you have to be a cute and/or outgoing girl I think to pull off a boys name, otherwise I think it can backfire lol.
I like it. My name is Rikki so maybe that makes me bias on unisex, but I have a good friend that is a girl and her name is Rian. I like it, it's differant and cute.
It's on it's way to being unisex, but it shouldn't be! It's no more a girls' name than Matthew, Michael, or Jacob.
Note to moms-to-be of girls... there are plenty of great girls' names out there. Leave the boys' names alone!

When I hear the name Ryan, I automatically think boy. However, I knew one girl in college who spelled her name Ryann and since then I have liked it for a girl's name.
