I need to vent...My child's temper tantrums are about to drive me over the edge

These arent your typical tantrums....these are tantrums that erupt when Michelle becomes fixated on something.  Today is going bye-bye...I just got home from picking up Britt...I had Michelle with me...Michelle had a fit because we pulled in the driveway and didnt want to be unbuckled.  Its going on 20 minutes of screaming and throwing things all over the room.  I just put her in her room since its just her bed and dresser in there.

This has been going on all day since we have been on the go.  She's totally fixated on going bye-bye.  I usually can get her out of it and redirect her but not today!

My nerves are totally fried and seriously have considered giving her benadryl to sedate her...no I will not do that .... just a thought going thru my mind.

  • Are you sure you want another one? J/k tomorrow is a new day.
  • for us it's "let me see". He wants to see everything, even subjects brought up in conversation. He won't have a tantrum over it, but he can get mean about it (like pointing at me and saying, "let me see" in a very stern voice. It's kind of funny, but irritating at the same time.

  • I usually give DD warnings. "In 2 minutes we'll be home. We can go in and look for (insert something she likes here)" This usually works and gets her excited about finding whatever I said. Or I bribe her with, "mommy's got a surprise!" Usually it's something cheesy, but she still likes that I have a surprise for her.
