I posted this on the local newlyweds board but I thought I would try here as well since I know some of you have moved recently.
We are moving in 2 weeks and I am trying to figure out who all I need to contact about the move. So far I have only done the online request with USPS to have our mail forwarded. I wasn't sure if there is some sort of standard list out there of who all we need to contact with the new address.
TIA!
Re: XP: Moving to-do list?
Here is what I remember doing:
Duke for gas and electric.
Cincy Bell for phone
CBWW (or other) for water
Rumpke or Forest Green (or other) for garbage pickup
You want to make sure that they stop charging you when you are no longer in your house and want to make sure you have utilities at your new house. The other homeowner can do it, but then you have to go by whatever date they tell the utility company. When I bought my first house, they gave a date that was before I actually got occupancy for the one utility they contacted, so I hurried up and called the rest.
If you belong to any associations, especially if they have memberships that expire, send them a note as well.
Credit cards, loans, etc.
The previous person in our house did the mail forward thing, but we still got notices for her certifications that were expiring, credit card statements, etc. We probably got those for about a year or so.
