I think that is a beautiful name. I don't think of a goldfish at all, but if you DH really has a problem with it you could always use Estella as a full name and Stella as a nn.
a goldfish? that's hilarious. i mean if you wanted to name your kid buddy or spot i could see that would be a problem.. but naming after a goldfish isn't a big deal. hehe. actually i think of beer when i hear stella - but i still like the name!

I like Stella. It's a rising name, if you care. I don't like Nicolette with it--that's a mouthful.
I don't know what that has to do with a goldfish but I know a few Stellas and they are cute little girls. I would personally do something like Stella Jane.
definitely not a goldfish name! I think Stella is pretty - I don't care much for Nicolette as a mn. ?Stella Nicole sounds better to me, or somethign softer like Stella Michelle or Stella Elise? ?
Just to be honest - my best friend's dog is named Stella, but we're both into human names for our pets (I have a Bridget and a Jack) if that makes you feel better! Chloe happens to be my in-laws' dog's name ironically.??
Pet name...NOOOOO!!!! I had a roommate back in college named Stella and I thought it was a neat name, not very common (at least for people in their mid-20's)
I LOVE the name Stella. No, it's definitely not a pet name. Well, I do happen to know a cat named Stella (my sister's), but her other pets' names are Eleanor and Olivia. So, she uses people names on her pets!
FWIW, DH has used the "pet name" excuse with me several times. However, the man has three horses named Mike, Meg, and Callie, therefore I argue that if he can use people names for pets then pet names are free game for people.

Ditto. It definitely doesn't remind me of goldfish. That's so funny and random!?

I like Stella...Nicolette is NMS.
