Totally NTR: What to do: Accidentally uncovered rabbits nest.

DH was mowing our lawn when he went over a small pile of brush that we did not pick up and in it was a nest of baby rabbits.  I ran and got my gardening gloves on and brought two of the babies that ran off back to the nest and recovered it the best I could.  There was a third bunny that escaped and was injured, but he disappeared someplace while we were gathering the otherrs and wecouldn't find him, but the poor thing is not going to make it.  Is there anything that we should do?

I put an X w/ twigs over the nest to see if mom comes back and disturbs it, but what if she doesn't? Do you think a nature center will take them in?  I can't call today, they are not open.  If she doesn't come back, would they die if we try to raise them?  DH and I feel terrible, though I know it happens.  I just don't want a cat or something to get to them.

  • https://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orphan.html HTH! Most (if not all) wild life places will take them in or you can call your local veterinary hospital. GL

  • Good luck. ?

A couple years ago my little pug found a nest and it was not good. ?The mother was in the neighbor's yard watching all that was going on. ?The mother was probably near by watching you.

I would call a nature center and ask them if the mom will return and if not, see if they will take the baby bunnies.?
