Random: Baby Names

The Social Security Admin released the top baby names of 2008 today.  I'm always interested, but the top ones never seem to change!  Jacob has been #1 for boy for the last 10 years and this is the first year Emily was knocked out of #1 for the girls in a long time...replaced by Emma!

Re: Random: Baby Names

  • I saw this earlier...I have to say that the majority of the girls names don't really appeal to me.  I like almost all of the boys names, but my favorite (should we have another boy) isn't on there.

  • The names on the top ten are nice, but none are my style, and my style isn't like wild and crazy or anything. I am surprised to see Madison on there...I don't know anyone who has used Madison for their babies in over five years.

  • I know 2 Madison's! One is 2 years old and the other is 4 months.
  • I'm shocked the Aiden, Cayden, Jayden, Brayden trend didn't blow the list up. I know MANY kids ages 3 and under with these names.... can't believe it didn't make the top 10??? Nuts.

  • I definitely used that list to rule out names we had picked for DD.  We did not want anything in the top 10, so we marked three girl names off the list for that reason alone.  We have a common last name, so we did not want a common first name too.  I love those lists.
