mucinex~what time of day to take

I'm going to use 12-hr generic mucinex tablets to help w/ my CM after I finish clomid.  Does it matter what time of day I take it?  I like to take things before I go to bed to avoid any drowsiness, but I'm afraid the effects will wear off before we get around to having sex, which is typically in the evening (almost 24hrs later).  Or should I be taking them 2x per day?  It is a 400mg dose, rather than the typical 600mg in the real mucinex.

I usually take the 600 mg ones and don't notice a significant difference unless I take one in the morning and one at night.  Just my own personal observation.   It may be different for you!
