if you have a Britax Marathon, come in

We are thinking about getting a Marathon since DD#2 will be growing out of her infant seat in the near future. DD#1 has a Roundabout, which we love, but I am wondering if we should get the Marathon and move #1 to that and #2 to the Roundabout.

Just looking for experiences with the Marathon or the Marathon vs. the Roundabout. TIA

  • I have the Marathon and we put DD in it around 1 1/2 and she's loved it ever since. I love that seat!

  • My mom uses a Roundabout in her car and we have the Marathon in our's.  There is definitely a big difference for the height/weight that the 2 seats can handle.  One other thing to think about is possibly the Graco Nautilus for #1.  It converts to a high back booster and then onto a booster.  That is what we got for my mom's car now that the baby is in the Roundabout.  That way, you won't need to fork out the $ again for a booster seat.

  • We've been really happy with our marathon.  Also, like the other poster said, we have the nautilus in H's truck and ds really likes that seat, too.
  • I put Jack in our Marathon when he was five months and two days old. It was my birthday present to go with my new car. I love this seat. We bought a cheap seat for the occasional ride in my husband's truck but ran out and bought another Marathon after Jack and I were involved in an accident for the safety aspect.

I know a lot of mothers on here recommend moving to a something ???   that transforms to a booster for the older kid rather than buying another carseat and then a booster soon after that. The Britax Frontier booster is front facing only. I saw your daughter is almost two and a half.

    • Recommended Ages: 2 yrs. and Up
    • For Children 25-80 lbs. with Harness,
    • 40-100 lbs. as Booster; For Heights 42-60" as Booster

  • We have the Marathon and the Roundabout. I love them both. I think it's a great idea to buy a marathon and put your youngest in the roundabout. That's what we did. Our car seat total is adding up these days. We currently have 2 marathons, 1 roundabout and 1 graco nautilus. I like the nautilus and I know it will last DS the longest but I prefer Britax over anything, so much more user friendly/comfortable  :)

We have both a Marathon and a Roundabout.

Big plus to the roundabout is it much easier to travel with; we've taken it on planes multiple times.

Big plus to the Marathon is you can rearface longer in it, if that interests you. I just moved my 20 month old to the rf marathon and put my (small) 4.5 year old in the ff roundabout.

If you're looking to make an investment, though, get a Graco Nautilus, which becomes a booster later.
