Names on TV

I know some people aren't into the "resume test" for names, but one thing I think is, it kinda sucks for your name to be misspelled when you have a career on television. I'm just saying.

I just saw someone interviewed on cable news named Austan. (Austin) ?

Also a local news guy is ?Jeh Jeh -pronounced ?JJ.

(Yes, Seriously, you can google him if you want.)

I know there are others, I am just trying to remember...?

  • lol, I don't disagree. It's just their names on onscreen all day, and I guess being the name nerd I am, I just notice these things, and wonder where the name/spellings come from.?

  • Are you talking about TV news people?  Because a LOT of those names are not their given names.

Due to privacy reasons, reporters, especially those in larger TV markets, often take on "stage" names.  That's why they're usually so odd. People with weird names don't just gravitate to TV jobs.

Blame it on stupid agents who think Americans won't want to watch a "Judy Jones" on TV.. it needs to be "flashier" and more memorable!

  • Kind of reminds me of a few people I know who's names are butchered cause their mom's couldn't spell.
