Question for moms of 2

What kind of car (or suv or whatever) do you have and do you like it?

We are buying a car soon and want one with a little extra room. Dh isn't sure he wants to go all the way to a mini-van, but I definitely want more space. We have a Mazda 6 wagon right now and we love it, but want our 2nd car to be bigger for when we have dc #2.

Any vehicle recos?

I have 2 kiddos and I have a Hyundai Elantra (so does my DH) and it is to small. I love my car. I have had it since 2001, but there is not enough room for all of the stuff we haul around. We will be purchasing a mini-van at the end of the year or the beginning of next year. We need more space and the trunk can only hol the stroller (travel system), a camping chair and small bags shoved somewhere. We are planning on having one more, maybe two, so we need the extra space. Also, Kellen wants to bring his friends places and we can't do that unless we drive seprately, which is rediculous.

We test drove the Mazda 5 and the CX-9 last weekend.  I really felt like the Mazda 5 didn't have enough space for 2 kids.  It does have more seating, but what you gain there, you lose in storage space.  The CX-9 was really nice and had lots of room, but I really don't like the idea of having to move seats around or climb over them to get more people in the car.  All of this has led us to the conclusion that we will get a mini-van!   We loved the Honda Odyssey and plan to purchase one by the end of the month - NKU has their tent sale Memorial Day weekend so we are going to try and get a deal there.

I would go with a mini-van personally.  We have an explorer which we will use for vacations and long trips and we will use my Corolla for daily use.  We want a mini-van but we are not wanting another car payment (explorer is about to be paid off and we have many years left on the Corolla).  The mini-vans are awesome now :-)  The explorer does have 3rd row seating but then you lose your storage space so it is a bummer if you need to take more than one additional person.  Good luck in what you decide.

I have a Dodge Durango.  It has the 3rd row seat that folds down so it can hold all my gear.  It's been great while the kids are young, but I can't wait to downsize in a year or two once I don't need to lug as much stuff around.  I think my next car will be a Prius.  They're really roomy and have pretty good trunk space.

Thanks for the recs ladies.  After leaning toward another mazda, like the 5 or CX-7 or CX-9, dh actually brought up the Honda mini-van this morning. So maybe he is changing his mind. I'll be happy with whatever makes my life easier!
