Climbing is the new black in our household and I swear that Zachary is going to give me a heart attack. Anyone else? How do you discourage this behavior? I don't want Zachary to think that it's ok to climb on top of the dining room table!
My son likes to hang on the top of his crib. He climbs everything. I guess the only thing we can do is get them something they are allowed to climb on, like a kangaroo climber or something.
That's our DS too. Even at the restaurants he wants to climb table. He just can't sit/stand still. He even fell the other day and got a bump on his forehead, i tought that would teach him a lesson, but once he stopped crying, he wanted to climb again. any advise?
Yup, you should see him, he is always climbing... does handstands (I'm not kidding on this), jumping off furniture... etc. It is pretty unnerving. And yes I often have to say "please get off the table!"
Mom to Harmon 1/17/08 and twins Rachel & Callum 8/28/09
Monkey here too. Did you see my PIP from this morning? That's everyday at our house. He's always moving his toys around so he can climb on top of them and get to something else. He'll climb up on us if he has to, and has even attempted climbing up on the dogs!
Jace is 95% monkey. ?Dylan wasn't this bad so I really wasn't prepared for it. ?He seriously is on top of a kitchen chair and has both knees up on the table before I can get to him. ?It's insane!
We just got a new swing set with a rock climbing wall. ?I'm hoping that helps some!
But... I kinda doubt it.
Repeat after me: ?"This too shall pass" ?(or so I tell myself on the particularly trying days!)?
Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Oh yes. She flips over the laundry baskets to get on them, has learned to climb on the couch, dances on the end tables. And she just turned one. Lord help us! lol
I just get her down and say no climbing, you'll get boo boos. Hopefully some day she'll knock it off.
Me!!! I turned my head for 2 seconds yesterday and Rhone was standing in the lowest drawer and had opened the highest drawer in the kitchen cabinets. They are ok for him to play in but not to climb.
Wait wait---there was a little girl post in there too......My DD is more that part monkey--she is 85% DH,/monkey and 15% me(the female), she climbs up, under around everything, can get off our bed (high mattress) does the steps up and down, and get out of the carseat--was standing in it last wk-while I was laughing, loves ladders fences, and teasing the dog w/his monkey toy.
I should mention that we nicknamed her a monkey long before she was born, and when born the Dr. had to remove her tail just so her diaper would fit.
I must admit my little girl is a monkey too! She is into EVERYTHING. She will take her toys, stockpile them, and climb up onto everything. Coffee table, couch, fireplace hearth, bookcase, etc.
I get 2 good heart attacks a day from this and I'm sure my hair is turning grey!
Here is a post I put up just this morning with PIPs of Madeline scaling her Kangaroo Climber. She is a climber for sure! As I mention in the post I know where she gets it. I was on top of our fridge before I hit 3 yrs old.
Aside from the Kangaroo Climber her favorite things to climb are her large travel system stroller, her bookshelf and her play kitchen's sink.
Re: Does anyone else have a child who is part monkey?

But yet, he's still not walking
Jeeze I could have written that post!

This post makes me laugh because nearly all of the replies are from those with boys! LOL!?
Mine isn't TOO bad yet, but he is definitely figuring out how fun it is to climb on the couch. It's nerve wracking and I'm sure will get worse!?
Lol, you're right!!! That's too funny!
