SAHMs, when you're sick

Does your DH stay home? I feel horrible today, Ellie has an ear infection, my mom's not available to help me and DH has to work. I really wish he would stay home, but I don't want to ask.

Re: SAHMs, when you're sick

  • I'm only a SAHM one day a week, but as luck would have it I got the stomach flu on that day a few weeks ago. I did call my dh and ask him to come home early. You need time to rest. Even though you are technically at home you are working hard!

  • dh works part-time outside the home so he's home a lot anyway, but if he's not then i can usually take dd to my mom's house.  she does in home daycare so it depends on how many kids she has.  i've only run into the scenario a few times.  if no one can watch her and dh is gone, i guess it depends on how sick i am.  so far i haven't asked him to stay home, but i would if i felt really really terrible.

  • Dh would take a sick day if I really needed him... but so far he hasn't hd to yet. Wait, I take that back, one time he did when we all had a bit of the tummy bug.

    Hop eyou feel better!

  • I am home a few days a week but DH has yet to stay home from work when I am feeling bad b/c we haven't had a bad case of it yet.  If I were really ill, he would stay home to help out.  Hope you feel better soon!

  • Nope  :o(

One of the huge draw back IMO. I have passed 5 kidney stones while trying to take care of my kids alone. One day I did call my mom and she had to take the afternoon off work top come help me. I have to get surgery next week and DH will be taking the day off of work to watch the kids... but if I am sick I pretty much have to take care of them by  myself. SOrry you don't feel good... not having sick days as a sahm is the hardest part, imo.

  • Nope, it stinks. I remember being soooo sick when pregnant with Nolan and having no help. It was awful. The boys at least enjoyed laying in my bed with me, watching movies, and having a lazy day here and there. I just felt bad having them have to see me so sick more than anything. He would help as much as he could before he had to leave though.
