My OB asked me if I have had any swelling- I didn't think I was... though one day my feet seemed a tiny bit chubbier...
she showed me how to tell...
press down hard on your shin - right on the bone... if the skin doesn't pop right back up - and leaves an indentation that you can feel if you rub your finger over that spot a few times - then it's swelling.
I thought this was helpful- never knew that - b/c swelling was never really an issue for me.
Turns out- I was a little bit swollen when she showed me the trick... but nothing i needed to worry about.

Proud mama to a boys- 6/17/09 - a girl 2/23/11- and a boy 8/20/12
lol- i asked her if she was sure it wasn't just fat
She said nope... generally even if you are overweight you don't carry weight right up on top of that bone.
swelling isn't a big issue unless it's in combo with headache/blurred vision/ high BP, etc. or if you have sudden obvious swelling.
