Parenting after a Loss

moms of extremely active babies

Do you have any athletes in your family??

DD is really really challenging. She doesn't like to sit still for a second and hates the car seat, stroller and anything else that holds her in place. Every time I get down about it DH tells me that maybe she'll be the next olympic gold runner or something.

DH is an athlete and was also a VERY active baby and hit his milestones really early. He was walking at 9 months. I'm hoping she takes after him and puts all this energy to good use at some point!?

Re: moms of extremely active babies

  • I was walking & talking by 9 months and am far from an athlete!! haha. I guess there could be a connection.......

  • I don't think that active babies is an indicator for any sort of athlete. DH walked at 9 mos and is far from an athlete. My entire family is full of athletes and none of us walked early.
  • DS is VERY active, but I'm not sure he has enough coordination to be an athlete.  lol!  He is really good at throwing and kicking a ball though, so maybe.  He certainly seems to have an interest at least.

  • Ethan is definitely pretty active - if he isn't crawling everywhere then he is pulling up on us or his wagon and getting us to walk him everywhere.

DH was definitely an athlete...me, not so much.

He's pretty close to walking - people say anyway, but he has been walking like this since 6 months!! ?He still doesn't like to walk only holding on to one hand and can't stand unassisted yet. ?

It has helped that he is crawling really well now bc he can explore and we don't have to walk him around constantly anymore - and he LOVES his wagon!

Both DS and DD are very, very active.  DS was walking full fledged by ten months.  DD is way more active than DS, which I wouldn't have thought could have been possible. She was not walking until closer to a year.

DH grew up in gymnastics, soccer, volleyball and hockey and still plays hockey today.  I don't have an athletic bone in my body.
