Please critique my sticker chart instructions

I want to make sure there are no misunderstandings, so I'm trying to be as explicit as possible. Did I leave anything out?

Sticker chart instructions

1. Decide which behaviors you?re rewarding. In Alex?s case, we?re focusing on not hitting and not spitting. No other bad behavior will be reflected with the chart.
2. Choose several times per day that stickers will be earned.
3. Award stickers at those times. They are meant to reward good behavior, so it?s important to give them out when they?re earned.
4. The stickers are meant to encourage good behavior. This chart is not to be used as punishment. If Alex earns a sticker during a certain transition time, that sticker may not be taken away.
5. If Alex hits or spits during a certain transition time, he doesn?t get a sticker for that time. At the end of the transition period you can discuss with him why he won?t be getting a sticker.
6. At the end of each day, we will give him a reward if he?s earned a certain number of stickers.

Re: Please critique my sticker chart instructions

  • That's a good start but can you simplify?  Maybe something like"

    Alex's No Hitting/No Spitting Chart:

    1. Every 2 hours Alex can earn a sticker if he hasn't hit or spit in that two hour block.

    2. Alex should be given the sticker to put on the chart as close to the time he earns them as possible.  (to reinforce his good behavoir)

    3. This chart is positive reinforcement, not punishment.  Once stickers are earned, they cannot be taken away.

    4. Alex can earn additional stickers if you "catch him" being especially nice in an interaction that he normally may spit or hit.

    .
  • Thanks Dande. That's better than what I had!

  • I like Dande's, it's less words therefore easier to understand. :) And obviously those b!tches have a hard time understanding simple logic, so... we don't want to be too complicated for them.

Tell them they will get a special treat if they follow the sticker chart rules. Like... you'll give them a balloon every friday or something. LOL
