I love the nn Allie and I have a dear friend named Allison, but I think it is very 80s/90s and sort of blah. But, it's not as bad as Melissa, Jessica, Jennifer, etc., so I guess it's not so bad for use nowadays if you really love it.
I like it, and in my opinion it is one of the few legitimate "son" names for girls. It is a derivative of Alice, so the "s" part isn't referring to "son of."
Even though it is a fairly common name to us, it is unique for kids right now. She'll probably be the only Allison in her classes.
It's fine. I don't hate it or love it. I guess you could say I'm indifferent. In high school, I can't tell you how many people I knew named Allison, Alli, Ali, or Allie. I don't think it's nearly as popular now though.
I wasn't a fan of the name when I was growing up because the "mean" girl in my school was named Allison. But it's a really pretty name, otherwise. Not as popular as it used to be.
I really like it and think of it as a classic name. It's my middle name and I always wished it was my first name. However, my middle name is spelled with a y. Alyson. But I like both spellings.

Alison is my name - I like it. For some reason the 2 l's spelling bugs me though, to me that should be pronounced ALL-ison and should be the "alternative" spelling of the name while my way should be the "normal" one, LOL.
