Update from yesterday re: mom being mad at me.

My mom just called me and let me know that she is buying my brother a one way ticket to go stay with my uncle for an indefinite amount of time. 

My uncle is basically the black sheep...recovered alcoholic, has been in jail, etc.  He has agreed to let my brother come get a look at his very "modest" lifestyle to see what being an alcoholic can do to you and he's going to try and get him into rehab.

Maybe it will work, maybe it won't...it's up to my brother now.

I'm just proud of my mom for taking such a HUGE step!  She's actually TRYING now.

I think that is a GREAT idea.  Thank goodness your mother stood up and finally decided to do something.

Now all you guys can do is hope for the best.

That's awesome! I didn't respond to your post yesterday because I read it so late, but you're doing the right thing. You can't help him if he doesn't want help. I've known a LOT of recovering addicts and alcoholics.

I hope this is the wakeup call he needs, and I hope your mom can let him go enough that he can bottom out.

That is great!  I know it was probably so hard for her, but again it is for the best in the long run.
