2nd Trimester

School Question

So before I had gotten pregnant I had applied to Nursing School (change of career after I was laid off) I had my entrance interview yesterday, but I'm not sure if I will be able to handle a new job (I got a job in the interim) a new baby and school work at the same time-considering the fact I will be giving birth right at the beginning of the semester. If I get my acceptance letter, should I turn it down?

Just want to hear what other new mommies would say?

Re: School Question

  • Ask if you can postpone a year.  A lot of schools will do that for you.

  • I personally wouldn't be able to have a job, a new baby, and go to school.  If you did get an acceptance letter you could always call the school and see if they could push your acceptance back to the spring 2010 semester.  At that point, you will be able to reevaluate the situation and know if you can handle all three.

  • If you get accepted, I would call your dean and talk to him or her about it.  They may be willing to work with you and your situation.  Also, I would consider how competitive this program is.  Will it take a long time to get another spot?

  • I am in school now and hoping to take the fall semester off. ?But like everyone else said - I know a lot of colleges & grad schools allow you to defer admission for a year. ?

This. My husband was accepted into Education this past fall and deferred his acceptance for a year with no problem.
