But everyone kept saying "cupping" works great too for the pain.... I just keep thinking that my bf is gunna be happy about this.... What exactly is "cupping" so I don't have to "go to work" when I get off work??? ::ehhem::

Cupping is a type of acupuncture.  Traditional acupuncture uses needles but in cupping, they actually apply cups that have a vacuum like sensation and function.  The theory is almost as if sucking out the pain.  I have done acupuncture many times and love it.  I highly recommend it.  I have never done any cupping. I would check if you can do cupping being pregnant because I thought I remembered hearing it isn't recommended for pregnant women.

  • Cupping should not be preformed on pregnant women's stomach or lower back, fyi.

  • I had cupping done once, it was supposed to pull out "toxins and soreness'. I had 2 rows of large red circles going down my back. I did this pre preg.
  • I do acupuncture weekly and have only done cupping when I was sick (tp draw out the sickness).  I suggest traditional acupuncture (needles) for pain...it works wonders.

Thank you! Guess I'm not the only one who took the pervert route.... hahaEmbarrassed

  • Ive seen this done, not at an office or by a "professional"  but by a family friend that is a native of vietnam.  When she does it she uses cups and the vacummed part of it is caused my lighting a flame, under the cup.  ???  i'm sure thats not the exact way professionals do it.  This i'm sure that i experienced is past down from their ancestors
  • It's a Japanese form of acupuncture where they use little glass cups (sort of the size of votives) and they some how remove the air under them when they put them on different pressure points on your body.  It works like Chinese acupuncture but minus the needles.  It does leave little round bruises though.
