newborn eye goop = normal?

MJ  has yellowish goop in one of her eyes.  i keep cleaning it with a warm wash cloth and it keeps coming back.  is this cause for concern?

its worth a call to teh doctor, but not a trip to the ER.

Tay had that and we got drops that took care of it, sort of...she had them off and on for about the first 3 months of her life.

probably a clogged tear duct (ds had one for about 9mos) it's not painful and it's totally common... just keep doing what you're doing...some drs will recommend massaging it in little circles...I had no desire to do this with my baby's eye...I didn't want to hurt him at all accidentally

Olivia and Noah both had that....our pedi just recommended wiping it with a warm washcloth and a little bit of baby wash a couple of times a day.  It usually did the trick.  They also gave us some ointment to put in and around them a couple times a day if it didnt clear up on its own.

DD had that in both eyes. It was a clogged duct. Just keep it clean and massage the corner of the eye
