Pumping Moms-question

Do you wash your pump parts after each pumping session?  I rinse and sometimes throw them in the steam bags at work, but steaming seems like a little too much each time since I pump 2-3 times a day at work. (Is rinsing okay?)

What do you do?

Re: Pumping Moms-question

  • Wash every time I pump with soap and hot water. I steam once a day at home but sometimes I forget.

  • I have several sets of the pump parts - THE BEST investment ever! I carry in a "Clean" bag of pump parts and a "Dirty" bag of pump parts - and at the end of the day I clean and sterilize all the parts. I love it! Reduces the time that it takes to pump during the day too! The extra parts are really pretty reasonable....
  • Can you put them in the fridge between pumps?  That's what I do. Where I work- cleaning even w/ a steam bag is a pain.  I have to go to another floor to do it.

  • I don't.  I wipe them down and keep them in the cooler with the milk I've pumped.  Each night I wash them well.

Ditto.  This is what I did.

  • i rinse with hot water in between sessions and take home to give a thorough washing at night. nothing wrong with a quick rinse!
  • I use the Medela wipes and put them in the dishwasher at night.  Half a wipe is all I need each time.
