AW..DD swam across the pool by herself!

DD has always loved the water & I figured she would be an early swimmer. I was thinking about signing up for a local swim program that was 2 weeks long & they basically learn how to swim from the parent back to the wall no more than 5 feet away. The session was $170 so I was on the fence. I used to teach swimming, but not the survival method. I decided to work with her a little on Sunday & yesterday she was swimming across the shallow end all by herself!! I am so proud of her :)

Here is a video from yesterday:YouTube - Swimming

  • That's fantastic!  I am sure she was very proud of herself too.
  • Wow--that's great!  WTG big girl!  I was an early swimmer (my first swim meets were at at 4) so I am sooo into it w/ my kids.  My DD#1 can swim the length of the pool (long) but it took 1.5yr of YMCA swim lessons to get there--I can't wait to get in the pool w/ them this summer! :o

  • 1. GO RILEY!!!! that's awesome...I was hoping that my kids would be early swimmers too...(I was also an instructor) DD isn't into it yet  (she's 4 and just doesn't like to actually swim) and DS loves the water so there is hope :) we'll see in a couple of months.

    2. have you checked out the Infant Swim program? I wanted to have my kids do it but there isn't an instructor near me and you have to do it everyday for like 10 days in a row...plus refreshers...so I can't do a long distance thing with it...but I love the program (it teaches them to roll over and float on their backs to catch their breath)

    3. I hate you....you are 13 weeks pg and you look AMAZING!!!! I look more pg than you do (and I'm not pg). go YOU!

  • Wow I can't believe she holds her head under the whole time.  Good for her & you that is a great accomplishment
