Follow up appt after D&C..what to expect, questions to ask...

So today I go for my follow up appointment, my D&C was about 4 weeks ago.  I'm not sure what to expect, do they usually do a pelvic exam & bloodwork? Also, I'm trying to think of what questions I'd like to ask my doctor....I am so nervous about TTC again, I just have this awful feeling that it's going to end up the same way as this one did (a fear we all share I'm sure)..  I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I was thinking of asking the doc if they do earlier u/s or bloodwork for pregnancies after having just one loss.   Also, I was wondering if she would be able to tell me the gender of the baby that we lost...it had only measured 6 weeks when I should have been 9....they had tested the removed tissue for abnormalities and everything came back normal....would they be able to tell if it was a boy or girl with that testing? I know it might upset me knowing what gender it was....but i can't help but wonder... Sorry to go on and on...i'm just thinking out loud!!

they wouldn't be able to tell you the sex unless they did genetic testing on him/her. 

I had mine yesterday and she did a pelvic to make sure my uterus shrunk back to size and she checked my cervix to make sure it was closed. I had a f/u hcg to check the level, it was 11.8 so she said she's not checking it again

My f/u (after only 2 weeks) was just a 'sit-down, how are you doing' kind of thing - no pelvic, no u/s, no b/w. He scheduled me for another f/u 4 weeks from then - not sure what that will entail. AF arrived last week so b/w etc may not be necessary.  I had talked to my dr before my d&c, and he said they didn't as a rule do any testing for a first m/c. He did tell me at f/u that pathology came back 'as expected' - I took that to mean not a molar pergnancy. He said I should wait 2 cycles before ttc again. I'm nervous as hell about ttc again and the possibility of another m/c, especially now that I'm alone and will be doing iui with donor sperm.
