Yeah, I'd agree. If you spell Aidan, as you posted (ie Aden) it looks like you don't know how to spell. Also, he would be teased with A-den or A-house or...you get the point!
As for Lily, i see Lily being OK for a little girl, but as a grown up I dont think its right. I think it needs to be a more formal name with a NN of Lily. Full name Lilian NN Lily. But thats just me
I never really thought there was a proper way to spell anyones name. There are so many different variations. Thank you for your opinions, they are very helpful.
I have always loved the name Lily since high school but would never use it now because it's becoming so popular.
Aidan is nice but just too overdone for me. As far as how to spell it, -an is more traditional but actually -en is more popular, so it's not a "misspelling," just a variation.
I absolutely love the name Lily and may use it someday. :-) I am not a fan of Lillian - too grandmothery for my tastes. I like Aiden but not the way you have it spelled - it looks like mistaken spelling to me.
Neither are my style, but they're both very nice. Aiden was over-the-top popular a few years ago, but I think it has died down a bit, at least where I live.
I love Aidan. It's our favorite name for a boy, but we prefer the traditional Celtic spelling (Aden doesn't look right to me). Also, it's not popular in all areas. It's not even in the top 30 in my state so I agree with the pp that it seems to be winding down. Lily is beautiful too, but I'd probably use that as a nickname and give her a longer, more formal name for her birth certificate (like Liliana).
I love Lily. Aden is so popular, plus is almost looks like it should be pronounced add-en. Id spell it Aiden or Aidan. What about Adam as another option?
Re: What do you think?
Lily is cute. ?I like the boy name, but I would spell it Aidan.
edited to add: I also know people spell it Aiden, but I really prefer it with the a instead. ?:)?
please don't spell it Aden. Aiden is the proper spelling. Aden looks like ah-den.
otherwise they're a bit too popular for me, but really nice names.
I agree with everyone on Aden.
