Ok, so at first I thought DD was sick b/c of her immunizations, but 4 days have passed, and 24 hours between fevers at one point (no medication), so the nurse I spoke to on the phone suggests she's got a stomach flu (OR bacterial infection - I have to take her to the doc tomorrow)
I'll apologize ahead of time for the nasty poop description that occurs below.
It started with diarrhea (really rank) Friday afternoon at 3:30pm. That continued about 12 hours (maybe 4-5 diarrhea movements - spraying the walls, lots of fun). It was yellowy/orange. Then at 2 in the morning, her fever hit 102 and her poop changed to a yellow/green liquid with lumps, and immediately following that, it was like a slightly formed minty green/yellow.
That green/yellow paste (it was kind of bright, DH said it looked like play-doh) continued for 3-4 more diapers.
Her hands and feet were purple after a nap. Obviously we freaked (she was dressed as she usually is for naps - sleeper and a sleep sack), and called TeleHealth - the nurse directed us to put her in a hat and blanket and she was back to normal within a half hour, but she was so lethargic. After an hour or two, she picked back up and started getting her energy again.
Her poops since then have thinned back out - but they're not at all like her regular poops. The consistency is like a regular poop, but no seeds, it's creamy and pale yellow. The last one she took (just a second ago) was a real doozy. Stank to high heaven (I think it's the gas - b/c the diaper itself now doesn't smell)... maybe it's her tract working things out?
I dunno.. Maybe this is a vent more than anything, but I just wanted to see if anyone else's LO had a stomach bug or flu and had poops like this. I'm taking her to the pediatrician tomorrow, but just needed to see if this is something that's happened to someone else's kid.
Re: stomach virus and poop question (TMI & long)
totally makes sense. She had loads of diarrhea up to that point. You would not believe the sight of her room - poop on walls, floor, splattered and ricocheted off the dresser - like a poop crime scene. There couldn't have possibly been that much left in her stomach (though I was bf'ing her throughout).
We started her on pedialyte last night. It's so hard to give to her b/c she is the biggest bottle hater around. I own like 20395840239 bottles and nipples and none of them are to her fancy (what a diva). I have to use the oral syringe and it's such a pain. But she loves the taste!
Thanks for the info - makes me feel less paranoid about the situation
It just started today with my 23 month old. Praying that all of our kids get better.
gotcha. I'm on it. She's bf'ing like a champ today.
