Joining!

I was on the pregnancy loss board for awhile then TTCAL and now we are finally pregnant...with QUADS!  I am 12.5 weeeks and we have decided to carry them all. We found out last week that we are unable to do a cerclage so it makes things a little more high risk. Anyone out there with advice on how to carry them as long as possible?

Re: Joining!

  • Wow, CONGRATS X 4!!!!  How exciting!!  I don't have any advice, but the ladies on this board are great, and will answer any questions you have!  Congrats again!!  Here's to a Happy and Healthy 9 months!!Drinks
  • Wow. I wish you the best for a safe and healthy pregnancy. You can find lots of advice here. You may also want to check out some of the boards specifically for HOM - tripletconnection might have some quad moms, too (I'm sure our trip moms can answer that one) and mostonline would be two to check out.

As far as advice to carry them - find docs you trust who have tons of multiple experience. Take good care of yourself, gain weight, and remember that this is going to be a hard road for you, even with the easiest of circumstances, because carrying four babies is going to be a big job for your body. Best of luck to you.

congrats! i have a good friend with quad girls and she carried for 32 weeks without a cerclage. just lots of rest! they were all huge (some of them were bigger than my boys, born at 33w) and didn't spend much time in the NICU at all.

  • Wow congrats! And welcome to this board. There are lots of women who know lots of stuff. They/ we are all a great support system for each other. Take great care of yourself and tell your DH he has to take care of you for the next 9 months. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months
  • Congrats x4 and welcome to the board.  Have no advice for 4, but just best of luck and a healthy 8-9 months.
  • Congratulations! I would definitely get to a high risk doc right away and ask about bed rest. I am sure they will recommend it at some point during the pregnancy. I am carrying twins and have been on modified for months now. I know it was a hard decision to carry all 4, but I think it is great that you are going to. Please keep us all updated as your pregnancy progresses.

  • Wow, congratulations!! And welcome to the board. I agree with getting an awesome doctor who's experienced with higher-order multiples, and get the book When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads by Dr. Barbara Luke. She has done a lot of research and has tons of great advice on how to have the healthiest multiple pregnancy and babies possible!

Thanks girls!  I think I found a good OB, we met with him last week and really like him.  He said he has had a lot of triplets but only 7 sets of quads in 23 years.  He wants to see me weekly which is great!  Macchiatto, I just order the book this morning that you suggested.  I am looking forward to getting to know you all better!
