At would age would you let your DC ride their bike around the block themself?

DS is 9.  He wants to ride his bike around the block.  We live in a very quiet neighborhood, he wouldn't go on the street at all.  We know people on the block behind us as well.  I don't think I'm ready to let him yet.  What age would you let your DC??

just kidding. 9 is probably fine... i just dont think i could with out a tracking device.

I probably would let my 9 yr old ride around the neighborhood alone if it's a safe, familiar area with low traffic. Of course, this is just hypothetical since I don't have a 9 y/o yet and I've noticed that so far I tend to let ds do things much earlier than most people on the nest seem to agree with.

oh and if your not ready there is no reason why you should not wait. let him ride up and down the street where you can keep eye on him. i would probably wait a little longer. i watch too much dateline.

SD is 9 and she is allowed to ride her bike around the block but only when she is with her friends/friend in the neighborhood. Otherwise, if she is by herself she only rides where we can see her from the yard.
